What does it matter if philosophy gets hindered? you might ask. Sciences now reveal the secrets of the universe for us. Technology makes our life comfortable. Why do we need philosophy?
Recently I came across this interesting question in my 11th grade textbook of philosophy. This question was mentioned under the title ‘let’s discuss’. This question made me think about the necessity of this deeply-rooted subject ‘Philosophy’
Philosophy is an ancient subject whose ideologies and principles have gone through the various processes of validation and reasoning till date. This subject lays its foundations based on logic, critical reasoning, understanding, and acknowledging all sides of a topic. Philosophy gives one the freedom to give birth to various perspectives, thoughts, questions, and present different answers to a single question which are based on logical reasoning.
Even if one argues on the point that sciences reveal the secrets of the universe and technology makes our life comfortable, philosophy provides us the purpose of life. A purpose which every one of us looks for every single day. Philosophy is also known as the mother of all sciences because it was philosophy that searched for questions and made people curious.

What is philosophy?
A definite answer to this question won’t do justice. There are different understandings and answers to this question. Some say it is ‘Love of wisdom’ some say it is ‘Way of living life’. For me, it is just a boon. A boon which is given to us by the creator of this universe and which is passed on to us by our great ancestors. Philosophy is like a blank or half-written diary. It depends on how you look at it. One can completely start an abstract idea and present logical reasons behind his/her idea, philosophy accepts that. Philosophy also accepts when one rediscovers and starts working on an old piece of work.

Sciences and technology can only make us intelligent but philosophy is the one who inherits the power of wisdom. If one is not aware of how to make use of his/her intelligence the intelligence is of no use. Philosophy teaches us how to use and respect our intelligence. Philosophy is the teacher that teaches us the ethics and principles of life and we human beings with evolved intelligence are the students of this life.
